My Personal Anime Hell (pt1 ?)

I am writing this out because at the time of writing my net connection has been down for like 8 hours now and I am so bored I am reduced to writing silly blog entries in notepad...

so in the theme of hell I decided to name and some shame animes that I personally hate and what I wouldn't reccomend to anyone ... no matter how desperate you are ( so I'm counting out my personal hates that I know other people like such as Evangelion , pardise kiss and 5cm per second ) , so lets begin

Happy Seven

Just finished this now and I have to say if I had the internet to distract me I would have prob split this into 2 viewings as the net would have distracted me away from this garbage ... so the story goes there are basically 7 magic girls , another magic girl who's powers are dormant ... and a magic boy who everyone wants a piece of because he's a nice guy (you know the type ...) and it's down to them to save the world from ... I didn't really get it , most of it was spent exterminating enemies that had pretty much nothing to do with or loosely related with the bigger picture , yeah I do have to say as much as I don't like Nanoha it stuck to the story and made the characters kinda their own characters instead of cliches and there was only like 3/4 main characters , not like 8/9 in the immeadiate front cast, avoid this , there has been better anime made since this (without the internet I can't look up how old it is but going off the artwork it predates like 90% of the anime I've seen) and avoid this if you can.

EDIT: it was actually made in 2005 , it just looks cheap , I don't think the 4:3 ratio helped it there.

Okusama wa Jouseki (My wife is a highschool girl)

when I read this I thought Onegai Teacher but Genders swapped ... how wrong was I ? Onegai had some humour , Onegai had likeable characters and Onegai wasn't just sheer painful to watch. All this anime boils down to is a young teacher (average nice guy again) and a schoolgirl having to hide the fact they are married while they go to school together ... every girl wants the teacher which makes the schoolgirl extremely jealous (most of her time is spent whining) ... and that is about it really , they try to make it funny but it's just ruined by the unrealistic situation that takes itself too seriously and some characters finding out and being okay with it ... if this was In real life if he gave away as much signals as he did in there he'd be facing a jail sentence before anyone can say PE-DO-PH-IL-A. This was so bad even the subbers (lime) left a message saying that they hoped people liked it as much as they hated subbing it and if you couldn't have just found something better to watch.

Haruhi Second Season

This is Second Season Syndrome at it's finest, Haruhi shows up again after a okay first episode (not quite hitting Season 1 standards but fairly good) Endless Eight happens , then 4 episodes of not much else happens ... then that is all. I just hope the dissapearance movie makes up for it and Endless Eight can be erased from the memory.

as the title says this is a part 1 , may do another one if I can be bothered to.

oi , England ... wtf are you doin' ?

1-1 to USA ... okay , I recognise they are a fairly good team , it's one of the youngest teams they've ever fielded and alot of them have had premiership experience and they did well in the confederations cup , but still it's no excuse not to win against a team that football isn't even their main sport and 'football' is something different to an American and they call it 'soccer' and a girl's sport.

0-0 to Algeria ... yeah , this is a team that only just made it through on the African ticket ... only just and I have to say looking at the African teams I have to imagine that qualifying on the Africa ticket is alot easier than qualifying through UEFA , this is basically a team of France rejects , a team that has a Italian Serie B player in it ... this is a team we should be dismissing 3 or 4 - 0 but for the most part they looked to dominate us.

Where did it all go wrong , if England doesn't pull a convincing result against Slovenia and come out of this Group Fabio Capello has alot to answer for ... how could a team go from a pre-tournament favourite to a side that loses possession at the slightest pressure and seems very lack lustre and silly on the attack.

come on England , I hope for you cus on this form we are probably going to lose to Slovenia , if England go out I will probably support Brazil as they are the only realistic team that aren't Argentina.

my worst game characters ... part 1 ?

Big the Cat - Sonic Adventure.

need I say much on this one ? The whole back story for him being that his pet frog ran away from him and he has to get it back by fishing ... FISHING IN A SONIC GAME !?!?! as much as I do like Sonic Adventure adding big the cat to it was like farting in a lift ... well yeah he's sucks , does he get better later on ? short answer to that is no, he makes his second and only other main-game appearance in the awful sonic heroes and guess what , his frog goes missing again so he joins up with two other joke characters, perennial series joke Amy Rose and Cream who's only main appearance as far as I'm aware being heroes itself , needless to say I'm sure big was added to make the other 2 members of team rose seem like less of a joke , so yeah this is one cat that needs to get hit by a car.

HEY !!! LISTEN !!! HEY !!! LISTEN !!! ... nuff said.

various NPC Characters - Pokemon (recent ones)

This wasn't as bad back in the days in red and blue , when you did watch this it did activate a glitch which is maybe why they have done this in the recent ones ...

you know what I mean by them NPCs that go like HEY DO YOU KNOW HOW TO CATCH A POKEMON !!! to which anyone playing this game would reply 'yes this is like my 4th/5th/6th Pokemon game already' and they follow up with WELL LET ME SHOW YOU !!! , the general speed at the start of a pokemon game is unbearable these recent generations.

... if they were worried about the glitch they should cut these NPCs altogether , I'm sure the 1 in a 10,000ish new pokemon players could just find out easy by good interface design or just experimenting like we all did in red and blue.

I will moan about more characters that annoy me maybe in the future.

you know you need a new laptop when...

yeah , I have had a new computer since the laptop but since I've started watching anime on the laptop again on it. my main reasons for wanting a new laptop being ...

- When I watch anime on it video and audio timing goes out of sync alot of the time.
- it only has 40GB in total which was a fair amount when I bought it but now I only have like 2GB left on the thing and that includes me purging restore points using CCleaner regularly.
- A Firefox window and a MSN window open seems to demand like 70-80% of the CPU for some reason.
- Windows 7 has been out a while and my laptop can just about handle XP
- After defragging it 3 times using the MS DeFragger tool it still shows up as like 35% fragmented.
- A firefox process that wasn't even running in the foreground the other day zapped like 90% of the processing power and I had to shut it down manually using task manager.
- After a dodgy system restore a while back after the repair ppl finished with it the wireless card seemed to died and I had to download a seperate program to run it which take up precious processing power

but saying that I do like my laptop , I have spent alot of time on it the best part of 3/4 years I reckon and it has a really nice screen that shows up pictures and media really clearly (well media when it can synch with the audio). Also when I play Touhou on it the slowdown of the processor does help at times but I think that counts as cheating really lol.

oh well enough of me moaning , I should save some money and do something about it.

Why I think flash will be round for a long time to come.

I don't know if anyone else has been reading this whole apple vs adobe row with Apple claiming flash is dead a product of a bygone era ... maybe they haven't said that but I know they have been basically declaring war on flash as a format - removing flash support from their iTrendy thing whatever it is , I really don't think adobe care too much on that front but I bet they care about the way apple have been bashing them and to be honest I think their some of their criticisms are just silly , let me put this the way I see it.

loads of people are trained in Flash, I even did a computing HND and that was one of the modules not to mention the media people having even more to do with flash for the production of their media content and I don't think that many people would look on too kindly for their skills to become as good as non-existent , I know people who have spent years and years on flash honing their skills , if a format is that widely spread and that widely trained and supported there surely can't be anything fundamentally wrong with it.

Which brings me on to their 2nd point , I am fairly sure apple are quoted as saying that Flash was made for an era of Mouse and Keyboard ... no , I'm sorry ... even though your iTrendy thing may be touch screen or ego controlled but most other formats of computer are still mouse and keyboard controlled , granted that some of it are laptop touch pads but you can get USB mouses if you want a mouse to control it with and anything other than a game in flash would take that in mind because I don't know if anyone reading this has had any formal computer training but you would know to make your interfaces not that awkward in the sheer amount of HCI (Human Computer Interaction/Interface) lectures you get rammed in your face - what if old/disabled/non technology adept people use your technology , etc.

Apple are not the only ones with their iTrendy touchscreen phone stuff too, Microsoft and Google , 2 Companies which I'm sure are bigger than Apple are also making these devices and want to guess what they are using for their interfaces ? you guessed it FLASH.

so not so much of a case of it being bad like they are saying , I think it's a case of jealous rivalry.

Come on England

yeah, I know what everybody's thinking ... it's that time of 4 years again , England will never re-live the glory of '66 so why do we even get ourselves worked up for disappointment ?

I do admit that I also thought that at the start of this one , Rooney being our only realistic chance of lifting the world cup and that he is on the border of injury , Cashley Cole having trouble with the press (as an Arsenal fan I am glad to see him being a *** catching up with him , lol why did he have affairs with the wife he had ? what a *** ) Same with John Terry and him being stripped of the Captaincy ( yeah something must be running in the money-infected water of Chelski ).

But then I looked at the potential tournament progress we could make if we win our group (and lets be real here , any group where USA is consider the best of the other teams is no real threat to even a weakened England) it is very possible that we could reach the Semi-final as if results go as expected I see all the really hard hitters being kept from us till then apart from a Quarter-final against France and with the state they are in after qualifying in the way they did I don't expect them to be as dangerous as they could be.

Also with the potential trouble this year with certain people being offended with us being 'racist' by wearing our ENGLAND shirts and flying our ENGLAND flags in ENGLAND !!! yes I'm sorry , if you are offended by ENGLISH patriotism in ENGLAND at this once in every 2 year event (4 years now cus of McClaren failing us at Euros) please go back to wherever it is you come from ... oh and another thing , if you find it offensive for us to wear England shirts and Fly England flags then why do some of you wave foreign flags and wear foreign sports shirts ? what if we find that offensive ? ... oh wait it doesn't work like that does it ? that would be racist.

I see the likely top 4 of this World cup being Brazil, Spain, Portugal or Holland and England. So what I'm going to say is don't get excited for this world cup because you think we have a clear chance of winning cus we do not , it is possible but then again it is also in theory possible for a team like the Swiss to win it , but it is highly possible for us to reach the top 4 which would be great for England and not been done since Italia '90. The other reason is that people should get excited for this is keep English patriotism alive , if you have origins from another country and support your country of origin for the World cup , Cricket cup , Rugby cup , whatever ... we respect that , please respect us in showing support for our country in our country , we are not being racist ... and I for one have no idea why you are suggesting we are
